inducted 7 December 2024

The Crown and Anchor (the Cranker) Hotel, in Adelaide’s east end since 1853, has a reputation for its decades of commitment to live music, particularly with an alternative edge.  The Cranker’s music has spanned all genres including rock’n’roll, garage, punk, folk and indie.  Some of the many acts that have performed there over the years include Tex Perkins, Kim Salmon, Fiona Horne, Rob Snarski, The Spazzys, Dan Luscombe (Black Eyed Susans) and Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr).

The Hotel has a history of supporting local music with many Adelaide bands such as Bad Dreems and punk rock trio, Grenadiers honing their craft there. The Crown and Anchor front bar also earned repute hosting free DJ sets by members of big name touring acts such as The Hives, members of The Dandy Warhols, Pond, and Tame Impala.
